Fasting Guidelines

The Bible is full of people who fasted. We will conclude
however with some guidelines for fasting.
1.) Make sure you are medically able to fast before
attempting it.

2.) Begin with short fasts and gradually move to longer
periods of time. If you have never fasted, start slow-not
(7) days.

3.) Be prepared for possible dizziness, headaches, or
nausea in the beginning. Remember our bodies love food and
is use to it.

4.) Break prolonged fast gradually with meals that are easy
to digest and light.

5.) Mix your fast with prayer. You can pray without fasting
but you can not fast without praying. Also add scripture
reading.

6.) Keep checking your motives concerning your fast.
Hypocrisy and spiritual pride can easily creep in. There is
a reward for fasting, but only if it is done with the right
motives. ( Math. 23:28)

Finally, seek the Lord, not the experience of fasting.
This concludes our lesson on fasting.
